Cape Cod Waves

It was a very windy day at the beach last Friday. There was a rip tide like I'd never felt before. We swim at this beach often, but this was the first time I'd experienced such a powerful undertow.

Watch and enjoy!

Glorious Summer Days

I had a walk today. Truth be told, I pinch myself every time I step outside. I live in a glorious neighborhood of trees, red barns and horses. But just down the winding tree filed road I live on, is our neighborhood Marina. And just beyond that is one of the many gorgeous beaches of Cape Cod.

I've been on a life long journey to get to where I am. I didn't know it of course, but it's true. I've been here for some time now, and every single day is a gift. Thank you Cape Cod for calling me home.

Stop by the shop sometime.

Worn Old Wooden Boat

She's too far gone now. Wooden boats prefer to live in the water-
it's good for the wood! This old girl has past her prime, but perhaps
she might have been a beauty in her day.

Cape Cod From Above

In 1914 the Cape Cod Canal was cut through the base or isthmus of the peninsula, turning nearly all of Cape Cod into what would technically be described as an island. One of the biggest barrier islands in the world, Cape Cod shields much of the Massachusetts coastline from North Atlantic storm waves.

And isn't she just beautiful?

Isn't She Beautiful!

The harbor around the corner holds the key to my heart. Well, one of them anyway. Her name is "Siren" and she's beautiful, don't you think?

Look at the beautiful lines she has along with her wooden trim. And I'm ever the fan of a blue hull. She's pretty and built for very, very comfortable travels.

It was a beautiful day today. Cape Cod is full of it's treasures.

Enjoy it,

Beachside Lobster and Clambake

The great tradition of the clambake goes back to Native Americans who taught the new comers the art of cooking clams, corn, potatoes and other delicious things in a hole in the ground.

The traditional method for throwing a clambake is to start digging a hole in the ground, cover the bottom of the hole with large stones and build a large, hot fire on top of the stones. The fire needs to burn for a couple of hours to heat those stones as hot as they can get.

You'll also need seaweed to cover the pit, and plenty of cheesecloth. Once that fire is hot enough, rake the fire from the rocks and cover the rocks with more seaweed. Place plenty of lobster and clams, potatoes and corn wrapped in the cheesecloth on top of the seaweed. Cover with more seaweed and let it cook!

After a couple of hours playing in the surf and sun, your meal will be done. Enjoy a hefty helping of some summer seafood, and enjoy the day with family and friends. Can you think of a better way to spend the day?

Have fun!

The Classic Bathtub

The glorious, fabulous, relaxing bathtub!
The big, old fashioned kind. Do you have one?
Adorned with nice soaps, fluffy towels and some
time to relax and just be.

I love the white painted wooden panels,
the light filled windows and the big fluffy towels.

Enjoy some peace, and light some candles.

The Simple Tote

My very favorite simple tote. A Burlap exterior for it's
rugged and fuss free qualities, and a cotton interior
with enough pockets to hold your things.

Simple, useful, good looking and reusable.

How many do you need?
